Super-producer Mac Nifty has crunched his imprint on the music scene since 1996.

His production has helped create career defining style and swagger for artists under ground trying to come up.

On the brutal raw no law having streets of Detroit, anything and everything luxury worth having comes hard and hard to keep. There is nothing free here. You have to put in plenty of time and learn the game, your game and create that hustle to push lock on your name and brand. And when you do, and you have competition comprimising skills, that is the intersection to which reflects 8 mile and Woodward. The pillar power point. The north star of Detroit City. This is where Nifty has put it down since birth. When you look at the road signs Woodward is number 1. 8 Mile is 102. This is the intersection between the north and the south law and no law, east and the west where people take sides and brawl. Grit and Grace with dead bodies all over the place. A place that many keep saying needs to be embraced, "Beleive in Detroit",  but kind of hard to imagine when nothing but battle ruins and debris is in your face.
But the truth is everyone needs to get out if you have anything you worked hard for and want to keep. Unless you can afford mad security odds are you'll be dead before hearing me. Detroit where your street practice mastered meets opportunity, which is way more than luck because it is guaranteed when you take it: It’s $ykoe (psycho.)

Mac Nifty aka $ykoe (real name Chris Mac), the wild Motor City-made rap artist whose debut single “Wicked Dreamz” became a Detroit trailer sensation and whose new jam “Back in their Face with Bass” is gathering serious steam, has parlayed his punctual nonstop track dropping work ethic, determination and natural nano talent into the bright light of the public.

Nifty is a hip-hop performer from Detroit, who’s working with new monster material. He couldn’t be doing anything else if he tried.

That mad hyper active attention bipolar disorder drive began as a child, when he began learning to mix and splice audio cassettes into full blown remix tapes at 12. At the age of 13, he had progressed to making custom instrumental track splicing and virtual sampling others music as the instruments to my own music created. "That is hip hop right there." says Nifty. “I listened to Esham, ICP, Kid Rock, De La Soul, Bass 305, DJ Magic Mike,  all the usual and unusual. I like a lot of the underground but it's not usually consistent. I think I have kept my flow consistent and improved over time flexible enough to merge onto any track of any genre,” says Nifty, who cites his wide-ranging musical influences from 2 Live Crew, 2 Pac, Dr. Dre to Slayer, Metallica and Mozart. By 16, “the music my peers were listening to, and wanted to hear gangsta rap and anything really full blown pimp music with supa fly dance competions in the circle to get slutty on the dance floor music slamming groins and rears at the middle school and high school dances, then eventually at the actual dance clubs, really got me into rap. These were the days when what was going on at home was totally different than what is going on everywhere else. Detroit is Raw. I started freestyling ontop of my raw raunchy beats I made up, but I never narrowed my genre down to just one type of music. It was like everything just kind of tied into each other with my first cd mix in '94 being Pantera mixed with Spice 1 for my background instrumental track.”

Influencing acts or known acts behind the scenes giving the ideas of excellence and motivation.

Respected beyond the genres of hip hop and urban music, Mac Nifty, has also been sought by superstars and underground legends whose music needs a new edge. Nifty is Detroit's Monster.

Mac Nifty has had many reincarnations-- to making mix tapes for school dances with DJ Magic Mike and NWA in 1988-1991 with the name Bass Tracers & Big Bass C then after family situations out of hand drawing a needed closure and upper Nifty started doing House - Ghetto Tech - Techno music with the name Chriz Mac releasing under ground dance mixes "Blunt Opinion" and "Open Door Mindz I Enter" then to going to prison and getting out going wicked in 1998 as Detroit Sykoe with the group Tempts Eve Posse. Tempts Eve Posse then breaking up jumping ship. Thus starting the music and entertainment label MINDSTATE RECORDS. Under MindState he released Multiple Smoke in 1997, Zillionz in 1998, Detroit 2000 in 1999 and then into a new light in sound as producer and rap rennaissance straying away from the name Sykoe to Mac Nifty in 2000. Something more flexible and simple. Troubles with the law, love, family and money issues because of the law, Nifty's edges were getting jagged, rigid and dangerous. You can hear it in his releases Natural Reactionz in 2000 and Comin' With the Quickness in 2001. 2002 Nifty released Stab Woundz and in 2003 his best album release yet due to the extreme sound and innovation.

Nifty as a producer is aimed to be authentic and original.

Harmonization in rap lyrics were forced by Nifty to sound different than everyone else with hits like "Million Dollars" off his SkillzMental double album in 2003.  In 2004 Mac Nifty started a new side of himself and alias, G Gawdy.

G for growth in Detroit's Hip Hop.

Gawdy because everything Nifty touches grows and becomes something over the top with eccentric qualities gaudy outrageous.

GAWDY.

With the Gawdy sound and vocals on Motor City Ridin' Out released in 2004 to Tier 1 Status in 2005, bass album Fort Knocks in 2006, Devious in 2007, Champ Mode in 2008, Club 8 Mile in 2009 and going back Mac Nifty with Further Underground released in 2010.

Mac Nifty's sound is unexplainable, and meant to be heard and not read or spoken of but listened to….

His dedication and loyalty to staying true to music has spanned the untouchable label MindState Records, and his trademark sound has spawned numerous imitators in the Detroit area. Still known as the originator and master of the pitch shifting (before autotune) harmonization started in 2000 with his SkillzMental double album to extensive use of pitch shifting, doubling, complexinated multi faceted modulated style pushed up under with the power of some hellish bass. This is the new wave of Detroit ghetto tech sound when it comes to hip hop, rap and house music.

Along the way Nifty built an impressive and complicated recording mad scientist creator of God studio for any studio tech to maintain or figure out. The first ever recording process with no terminating sequence in the audio chain. Where everything played and performed is recorded and sent into the omega loop arsenal of studio equipment for his self endulgence mastering the craft in the lab studio dungeon, Club 8 Mile. Techniques and equipment manipulation many try to sneak a peek to follow and learn. But it is not that easy as they thought.

Mac Nifty's genre breaking has changed music today as those at the top have always come to see what he is up to and doing. "I feel I get held back purposely by those at the top. I am more than the tripple threat. I get into everything and top it up." says Nifty. Because a lot of what you hear by Detroit's monster Mac Nifty is a test of what is to come in the future music you one day will love so much and appreciate. Listen to any of Nifty's albums of the past and relate the style and sound to famous artists recordings coming out years after. Listen to Further Underground today and see that in 2 years time the industry is doing something of the same array linear to Mac Nifty. Always ahead of the pack of producers in the area creating something off the wall, unique and like nothing else.  Nifty takes pride in his success at staying ahead of the game with his experimentation and originality. Hard working and confident to smash a keyboard or dent the MPC's sheet metal shell with rhythmic anthrax. "My goal has always been to be different. To not follow but be followed and admired in a class of respect of my own." Nifty.

One thing Mac Nifty has on his side, other than incredible talent, is visibility, imagination and ideas that facilitate abstract prizms of creativity in is works of art expressed.

Mac Nifty is always looking to build onto MindState Records arsenal of fuelled artists hungry to get attention able to push anyone capped with no delay. With his sign and graphics shop that produces the physical merchandise, stage props, costumes, recordings, customized studio gear artists need. From billboards to shirts to the decals and graphics that cover your group and fan's vehicles. Printing services and duplication services. Filming and editing suite. Nifty goes Gawdy by harnessing knowledge and the equipment to own and operate his own empire. "Nobody can say no to me or anybody that comes out of MindState Records. MindState has all the tools to almost all the processes of making anyone a star. All we need now is a radio station which will also broadcast the HDTV signal and a club to showcase artists getting them paid not them paying the club to entertain. I want to see that place be built that facilitates the needs of art expressed to the fullest extent with diversity of all kinds of performers and audience. Not your typical top pop but everything. Very soon." Detroit Monster
